Description
Chilton Pond is one of the newest additions to the waters managed by the Taunton Angling Association. It is located in the heart of Bridgwater on the Parrett Estray, close to the River Parrett barrage, and is easily accessible from surrounding areas, just off Chilton Road.
The venue is well maintained, featuring grass banks and a continuous footpath around the pond, providing easy access to 20 well-positioned, ready-to-fish pegs. Depths across the pond range between approximately 5 and 7 feet.
Chilton Pond is well stocked with a variety of species, including carp to over 30lb and tench to 5lb. During the warmer months, surface fishing for carp can be particularly effective using floating baits. In colder conditions, anglers are advised to target the deeper areas using single hook baits fished on the bottom or as pop-ups.
Bream can be successfully targeted using a waggler or pole setup, with fishmeal or micro pellet feed and groundbait. Effective hook baits include chopped worm, corn, and maggots fished over the feed.
There are also plenty of other species present, and standard methods for silverfish, tench, and perch can produce rewarding catches, making for an enjoyable and productive day’s fishing.
Parking and Access
Access to the venue is via a locked gate just off Chilton Road. Once through the gate, members must remain on the stoned track and avoid driving onto the field.
