Best Practice Guide

Our fish are our most valuable resource, they are too precious to be caught just once!

A new and free resource promoting fish welfare, handling techniques and safety on the bank has just been launched.

The Best Practice Guide for Freshwater Angling is a collaboration between the Angling Trust and leading specimen groups, including the The Grayling Society, Tenchfishers, The Perchfishers, and the Pike Anglers Club.

Aimed at anglers of all levels, it includes expert tips on fish handling, unhooking techniques, safe rig use and biosecurity, as well as highlighting the importance of encouraging newcomers into the sport.

The club encourages the photographing and sharing of catches on social media platforms. Ensure that the care of fish is the absolute priority when handling, photographing and returning fish.

Please use the information provided below to increase your awareness and hopefully avoid negative comments on to any posts.
