Description

Wych Lodge Lake is situated on the northern slopes of the Blackdown Hills close to Staple Fitzpaine in Taunton, TA3 5BN. Following the restoration, this venue has lots to offer the angler. Taunton Angling Association in partnership with the Heritage Lottery and the Environment Agency have improved the lake by de-silting and removing vegetation from the lake bed and increasing the surface area of the lake available to anglers to fish. There are two purpose built easy access platforms on the south side of the lake with full wheelchair access. There is also a path around the lake leading to the north side where you will find six platforms to fish from. There are four more fishing platforms on the south side of the lake. The lake can comfortably accommodate eleven anglers comfortably.

The lake has been fully restocked with roach, bream, perch and carp.

Popular methods to target the carp include floating baits, i.e. bread, dog mixers. The carp in the lake are approaching 20 lbs. Other methods include method feeder with boilies or hard pellet on a band.

There is a large head of bream which often fall to the pellet feeder or a pole, fished over a bed of micro pellet with dead red maggots.

Wych Lodge has been recently stocked with a selection of stunning small carp to increase the angler’s experience. This is ideal for juniors to try their hand at carp fishing ensuring plenty of bites.
