Coronavirus Covid-19 Update

Official Statement from Taunton Angling Association Committee

Monday 11th May 2020

Further to the Governments update on Angling and following extensive discussions by the TAA committee, we have made the difficult decision to currently ONLY open the Bridgwater & Taunton Canal for fishing.

Following guidance provided by the Angling Trust, we are currently unable to manage some waters safely in terms of controlling numbers of anglers arriving at venues, sanitation of locks and gates etc and access through third party land whilst some restrictions remain in place.

Whilst this may be disappointing news, we need to consider and ensure that the safety and welfare of the clubs member, bailiffs, landlords and members of the pubic remains our no one priority in these difficult times.

TAA WATERS OPEN

Bridgewater & Taunton Canal

Please note that no keepnets are allowed

TAA WATERS CLOSED

Maunsel Ponds

Wych Lodge

Pines Pond

River Tone (Close season until 16th June 2020)

West Sedgemoor Drain (Close season until 16th June 2020)

All closed waters will be locked with no access to anglers (with the exception of the River Tone)

Please also note that the conditions for all TAA members is that all anglers must adhere to the Angling Trusts When We Fish Again Phase One Guidelines.

Please make sure you have a valid TAA & EA licence

Proactive Bailiff patrols will continue across all TAA controlled waters

We appreciate your cooperation at these difficult times and we will continue to monitor and review the current situation.

Many thanks TAA
